DIY enclosures for dogs. Aviary for a dog: features and nuances of manufacturing

Every pet must have a personal space with a berth and other amenities. Therefore, for those who live in a house around which there is a large territory, we recommend making a do-it-yourself aviary. This option will be much more comfortable for the dog, as well as functional, in contrast to the finished designs, which are sold in specialized stores.

Aviary: general manufacturing requirements

Before you begin to create an aviary with your own hands, we recommend that you study the basic principles that must be taken into account in the work. After all, it depends on how comfortable your pet will be.

First of all, it is worth considering the size and weight of the dog so that the aviary is not too cramped. We recommend that you navigate the height at the withers and use the standards below. For dogs that have a height of 45 - 50 cm, an aviary with an area of not less than 6 square meters is suitable. m. For breeds with a height of the withers of 50-60 cm, an aviary with an area of 8 square meters is needed. m. In turn, for dogs whose height exceeds 60 cm, we recommend building a rather large structure, not less than 10 square meters. m. But still, even if the territory allows, do not make too large an aviary. Otherwise, it will not be so warm in it and the pet may freeze.

Perhaps one of the most important points is the choice of material for the floor. This is not an easy question even for specialists. The fact is that you need to take into account the natural needs of the dog, so a wooden floor is not the best solution. It is best to equip the floor of such material partially, and leave the rest of the free. That is, without a foundation and other material. But keep in mind that in this case, the dog may start digging a hole to escape.

As for the walls, this is much easier. It is very important that they are not completely deaf. This will allow the dog to observe everything that happens throughout your yard. To create the main walls, brick or wood is best. For the rest, it is better to use trellised options. For example, welded parts or forged. We recommend that you do not install a mesh netting, as it is traumatic. An animal can damage its skin or teeth.

An equally important element in creating an aviary is the roof. It does not have to be done over its entire territory, but still it is much more practical. After all, in this way you can protect your pet from rain and wind. In this case, the roofing material can be absolutely anything. But it is very important to use wood as the basis, since such a material helps to provide good thermal insulation. For sound insulation it is better to choose a soft material.

And of course, in the enclosure there must be a door that opens inside. In addition, it must have a lock-lock both from the outside and from the inside. It is very convenient.

Separately, it is worth noting that the aviary provides for a sleeping place for the dog, which is protected from wind, rain and cold. You can use the booth for this, but if it is part of the aviary, then you do not need to build it.

Particular attention should be paid to the placement of the aviary. Of course, do not install it next to the fence and other sources of noise. All this will distract the dog and interfere with a good, quality sleep. At the same time, the aviary should not be too far from the front door.

Of course, it is worth remembering that the surface on which the aviary will be located should be flat. Best if it is on a slight elevation. Otherwise, in bad weather conditions, the structure may be damaged.

Those who are going to make an enclosure for a dog indoors do not have to adhere to such strict rules. After all, you can limit yourself to a special grill. But in this case, it is important that the dog still has its own berth, diaper or tray, as well as favorite toys. All this is very important for the comfort of your pet.

In any case, in order to foresee everything, you need to make a drawing of the aviary. This is the only way to think through all the nuances and do everything necessary.

DIY Aviary

Of course, making an aviary is not as easy as it might seem at first glance. The fact is that everything needs to be calculated, starting from the breed of the dog, its size and characteristics. Also takes into account the size of the total area and suitable for the construction of such a structure.

Only after that we get to work. That is, we cut the slats according to the size of the aviary. We drill holes for fasteners and process each part with sandpaper. This is necessary in order to get rid of roughness and other irregularities.

We assemble the panels together and sheathe them with a metal mesh. Carefully ensure that no sharp corners or cuts remain in the enclosure. Remember that this should be the safest design for your pet.

We connect the parts together and collect the frame of the aviary. The next step is to apply a stain, as well as varnish. It is due to this that the design will have a much longer shelf life and attractive appearance.

We attach panels to the finished frame, taking into account the fact that one of them is a door. It is her that we sit on the hinges, and also fix the latch.

On the prepared surface of the earth we install a frame, after which we sew up the walls with plywood. We fix the roof, and also, if necessary, strengthen the aviary with beams. Also take care of the warming of the aviary and that the dog in it was really comfortable. Be sure to check that there are no sharp parts or hooks on the surface. When all the work is completed, you can show the pet his new house and give him the opportunity to explore everything on his own.

Making a do-it-yourself aviary is without a doubt a difficult task. But at the same time, only in this way will you be sure that you have taken into account all the features of your pet. It’s also a great way to showcase your abilities and do something truly worthwhile.
